After Constable #6
Some years ago, I painted several oil sketches taking inspiration from the English romantic landscape paintings of John Constable. Years later, I used the sketches, mounted them on canvas, and painted them with bright color borders. The borders were reminiscent of my time in Jamaica where I lived for many years. The brightness contrasts well with the quiet sketches, thus the English countryside is raging with more exotic colors.
This is one of my affectionate interpretations of the English romantic landscape paintings of John Constable.
It is an oil painting on canvas that is affixed to a 30-inch x 40-inch oil painted canvas.
The painting is on a 1.5-inch deep stretcher frame with the sides of the canvas painted. It is ready for hanging and is signed and dated on the back of the canvas (2011).
